On Friday, November 21st 2025, the EURIP Graduate School and the Open FIESTA program from Tsinghua University (China) held an academic exchange at the Learning Planet Institute (LPI).
During this visit, Professor Weidong Xie from Tsinghua University delivered a lecture, followed by a poster session with ten students from Open FIESTA and three EURIP students: Chloé Anna Höllerer, PhD student from the FIRE Doctoral School funded by EURIP; Giullianna Borges Lopes, Master 2 AIRE student funded with a EURIP fellowship; and Sanil Pandhare, Master 2 AIRE student whose project is fi nanced by EURIP (Challenge Hub). After the session, students continued their discussions about the posters and visited some LPI facilities, including the Maker Lab. More students were able to attend these informal discussions and bond together, notably Ziqi Yi, Alumni from both Open FIESTA and EURIP programs who portrays the connections we are building.
A long-standing partnership
This exchange is part of a long-standing partnership between the Learning Planet Institute and Open FIESTA. The Open FIESTA program at Tsinghua University was inspired by the AIRE Master’s program back in 2015. Based on the Shenzhen campus within the Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS), Open FIESTA now offers two Master’s programs with about 40 students, one focused on digital sciences and the other on life sciences. Recently, the Open FIESTA Master’s program was converted into a 2 year format for international students. EURIP and Open FIESTA are discussing potential agreements for student exchanges.
It was a pleasure to welcome the Open FIESTA student delegation, led by Prof. Weidong Xie, at LPI. It was a special moment to meet new people and exchange ideas. We look forward to future collaborations!
